Consciousness is everything
I’m James, and I’m here to be part of a quieter revolution, one that brings light into the world by beginning within ourselves.
For 17 years, my life unfolded in various roles within the ICT world: logical, structured, reliable. Then the COVID-19 pandemic arrived and, like so many others, my familiar routines dissolved. With gyms closed, I turned to yoga simply as a way to keep moving. What I didn’t know then was that I was stepping onto a path that would reshape my understanding of myself, life, and consciousness itself.
Within five months of practice, something profound awakened. I felt more alive, more connected, yet I didn’t have the language to describe what was unfolding. That curiosity became a calling. I knew I had to understand the why behind the way yoga was transforming me. I began studying, immersing myself in the deeper philosophy and science of the practice. Books such as The Power of Ashtanga Yoga by Kino MacGregor and A New Look at the Science of Yoga by Eddie Stern opened doors I didn’t yet know existed.
To deepen my learning, I undertook a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with the Bristol School of Yoga, and struck gold. The experience was nothing short of life-changing. The teachers embodied wisdom, humility, and presence. They didn’t merely instruct; they empowered. This was my first true encounter with coaching-like spaces, where guidance meets autonomy, and insight invites you to forge your own path. My mind was expanded, my heart well and truly opened.
From there, my curiosity spilled into psychology and spirituality, fields I had never imagined myself exploring. I became fascinated by the human psyche and the meaning-making processes through which we create our reality. Reading Carl Jung’s Psychology and Alchemy and Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning altered the lens through which I viewed the world. Life suddenly felt richer, deeper, and endlessly symbolic.
Then I discovered coaching, the perfect synthesis of humanistic psychology, personal development, and timeless wisdom. Coaching is not a passive study; it asks you to apply everything to your own life first. It’s a courageous path, one that requires releasing identities that no longer serve you and walking boldly into the unknown. And it is precisely there, in the unknown, that the magic lives. In the limitless field of possibility.
One of my favourite Carl Jung quotes captures this truth beautifully:
“A person does not become brave by thinking they are brave, but by continuing to walk forward even when they are afraid.”
~ Carl Jung
All these experiences, teachings, and awakenings have converged into the work I do today, running my own coaching practice grounded in ethical integrity, psychological depth, and spiritual wisdom. I live and work from a place of freedom, autonomy, and deep trust in the unfolding of life.
It endlessly fascinates me that modern science is only now beginning to validate what ancient sages and philosophers understood thousands of years ago. For so long, their truths were overlooked, hidden or dismissed because they couldn’t be measured or grasped by the senses alone. Yet the magic has always been there.
I am fiercely committed to a life of continuous evolution. By learning to constantly adapt, pivot, and grow through life’s ebbs and flows, I have turned personal transformation from a milestone into my daily practice.
Learning never ends. Growth never completes itself. It can feel like you’re climbing a mountain, only to realise there is no summit to reach. The paradox is simple, so stop striving for the top, and learn to savour the journey instead.
